Serious Fun

It was afternoon on the first day of August in San Sebastian College – Recoletos, Manila, I heard the words “serious fun”. I was there because I attended the District Interact Assembly. We were inducted as officers and committees of the Interact Club. We had sessions about the club and our duties as its members. We had many activities the whole day.

In the morning session, we had an activity where we were asked to group ourselves with ten members each group. I was with Paul and Emer that time so we became group mates. The other seven people in our group were from Carmona. I was chosen as their group leader. Our first task was to draw our dream house using the three colors and a bond paper provided to us. It was a good thing that one of us is good in drawing. After that, we were asked to build our dream house using any material that we didn’t buy. We went to the canteen to ask for boxes, sticks, straws and other things than can be used in making our dream house. When we finished the second task, we were asked to sell the house we made with the price at least two hundred seventy – five pesos. We went back to the canteen and to the other places in the school. We knew that it was impossible to sell the house we made so we just asked donations for us to have the required amount of money. We went back to the auditorium, where we were having the session, with one hundred nine pesos. We got tired after the activity but we had fun. In the afternoon, our duties were discussed.

For the whole day, I learned more about Interact Club. It was defined as serious fun. It means that we are serious or sincere in serving the community while having fun by meeting new friends and helping others.
