Red Everywhere

What does color red symbolizes?

The bus we were riding going home stopped at Petron, Naic. The bus was not air- conditioned so the windows were open. I can remember that I was still talking to Lara when I looked at the gasoline station and noticed red colors. There were red things everywhere. I told Lara about it. She replied laughing and said that it means that we should use our red YES Camp bags. She said that because the time when we used those bags, we also noticed the same thing.

At the time I noticed red, I saw red caps. There were red cars and motorcycles. Signs have red backgrounds, houses and stores were painted with red color, and even the scarf at the back of a man I saw walking was red. I told Lara that it was happening because we were already searching for red things. Our conversation about colors started. It was not a serious talk. It was full of fun. We were teasing each other as colorblind. We started laughing and laughing until we got home.

What do you think is the message behind that event?

ID Picture

I don’t like taking pictures of myself. The only one who can take a good picture of mine is my mother. I don’t know why it is like that but it just happen. If you were one of my classmates before, I bet you haven’t really seen my ID pictures. Many said that they had seen those but I don’t believe them and even if it was true, I just thought that it was a little glance so I just ignored them. As what I can remember, I was not showing them to anyone since grade school if not necessary. They were always covered with something such as another ID or my name tag.

But something strange happened one day of this week. I showed my ID picture to some of my classmates. I was not shy that time. Maybe I thought that it was not that special anymore. It was alright for me since they didn’t laughed at my picture. I am always thinking like that because I had experienced it before.

Now I learned that people around me are more matured than before. I am sorry for judging them early.

C - Day

I got this style of keeping a secret about a day in Full House where, they used D – day for divorce day.

C – day was full of surprises and happiness. I got sick this day when we were going home but it was only Lara who knew it. Being sick means a different thing to my friends. For us, if you are sick you’ll treat others. We rode in a jeepney that time. Lara was just beside me so we planned what I will treat. We had three choices. Nikko, Lara and me did “maiba” and the choice that the person, who will be the one different from the other two, represents will be chosen. Nikko won without knowing what was happening.

When we arrived at Tanza, Lara and I told Nikko what will happen. At first, we told him that I was sick which he didn’t get fast. We still told him that I will treat them for him to understand us. Even when we were already buying, Nikko was still thinking if that was true and he kept on telling us that he doesn’t have money. We just told him that it was really true.

We had good conversation that night. We didn’t spend much time before going home because our parents might be worried about us. After sometime, we went home together.

My Father's Day

Can you think of other days that can be our fathers’ day than the real one?

It was August 7 this year when me and my father had a celebration. It was because of his birthday. My brother was on duty in a hospital in Malabon that day so he wasn’t with us. We should me with my grandmother and my cousin but when we arrived at their house to fetch them, she said that no one will take care of the house. We went back to Tanza and decided to just eat in Chowking than in other restaurants since we were only two.

It was a really good day for the two of us. I didn’t think of anything against him even once. The time passed smoothly. We agreed to each others thoughts. It was really our day full of happiness. I love my father whatever happens. I know my actions don’t always show my love for him but in my heart…he’ll always be there. When I was still a baby, I don’t come to other persons except my mother. Now, every time I think about that, I realized how sorrowful he was that time that his own daughter was crying in his arms.

For his birthday, I wish that he’ll have a happier life. I thank him for being patient every time I have “toyo”, meaning in bad mood. I just can’t control myself sometimes. I was really sorry for those times.

Father’s day shouldn’t be just celebrated in a day. It should be everyday for us to thank them and express our love for them since their sacrifices for us, their children, is not choosing any time.

Serious Fun

It was afternoon on the first day of August in San Sebastian College – Recoletos, Manila, I heard the words “serious fun”. I was there because I attended the District Interact Assembly. We were inducted as officers and committees of the Interact Club. We had sessions about the club and our duties as its members. We had many activities the whole day.

In the morning session, we had an activity where we were asked to group ourselves with ten members each group. I was with Paul and Emer that time so we became group mates. The other seven people in our group were from Carmona. I was chosen as their group leader. Our first task was to draw our dream house using the three colors and a bond paper provided to us. It was a good thing that one of us is good in drawing. After that, we were asked to build our dream house using any material that we didn’t buy. We went to the canteen to ask for boxes, sticks, straws and other things than can be used in making our dream house. When we finished the second task, we were asked to sell the house we made with the price at least two hundred seventy – five pesos. We went back to the canteen and to the other places in the school. We knew that it was impossible to sell the house we made so we just asked donations for us to have the required amount of money. We went back to the auditorium, where we were having the session, with one hundred nine pesos. We got tired after the activity but we had fun. In the afternoon, our duties were discussed.

For the whole day, I learned more about Interact Club. It was defined as serious fun. It means that we are serious or sincere in serving the community while having fun by meeting new friends and helping others.
